Prior to founding DI PIAZZA Architecture in Austin, Charles worked for the internationally recognized offices of Foster + Partners, and David Chipperfield Architects, both in their London offices.  He worked on projects in Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa.  Charles became an Associate at Foster + Partners in 2007 and was Project Architect for the BMCE branches in Rabat, Casablanca, and Fez in Morocco; the Commonwealth Institute in the United Kingdom; and two new office buildings in Masdar, in the United Arab Emirates.  While at David Chipperfield Architects he was Project Architect for the Marrakech Gallery of Photographic Arts in Marrakech, Morocco.

Since returning to the US, Charles has taught an undergraduate design studio at The University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture.  He founded Mediterranean Modern, a travel company dedicated to guiding travelers in the exploration and study of Art and Architecture in and around the Mediterranean region.

Born in Casablanca, and raised in the south of France; a life-long student of Mediterranean culture in general and its architectural history in particular, Charles brings both academic rigor and personal insight not only to the study of the historical factors which have shaped the Mediterranean region, but as well to the architecture and art that define it.
